Aloha! Updates From Our Group Leaders

Aloha! We had a delicious Hawaiian inspired dinner at our annual luau where the girls wore floral outfits, leis, and grass skirts! They hula danced all around the waterfront!

I know I have been giving you the 411 but thought who better than our amazing group leaders to give you an update on the first week of camp. To start here is an update from our Lower Freshman Group Leader!

Lower Freshman-
All campers arrived at beautiful Raquette Lake Girls Camp ready to start the best summer of their lives. Huge smiles were seen throughout camp as hugs were exchanged and sounds of laughter rang out. The Lower Freshman girls were greeted by their spirited counselors as they were announced coming through the dining room! Sunday, we jumped right into activities and I’m so proud to share that all LF girls passed their Blue Cap (deep water test) on the first try. The girls were encouraging their bunk mates and cheering them on. That evening, we had our traditional opening campfire lead by Supy, the oldest girls. It didn’t stop there, Monday was a wonderfully warm day full of activities topped off with the counselor talent show and a trip to T. P. for ice cream and treats. The girls have been enjoying all of their activities and intensive programs have begun. We have also enjoyed a s’more campfire with Eddie! Wednesday evening the girls found out their camp sisters and enjoyed dinner with them and visiting of each other’s bunks. The girl’s also experienced their first trip day. The girls were dropped off at the base of Rocky Mountain, and together in groups of 3 or 4, along with a counselor, climbed up and down the mountain. They hiked up 2,225 feet to reach the summit, and a beautiful site it was. Along the way, they found items from a list they had for a scavenger hunt. I’m proud to say that each group found their 6 items and all received $500 Raquette Bucks (per team) for their bunks! After the hike, the girls went into the town of Inlet for a picnic lunch, lounged at the beach and went shopping! Friday afternoon, the girl’s enjoyed the matinee performance of Anything Goes, the senior show. To top off the week, Pig Night dinner, games and fireworks took place at boy’s camp. They were all so happy to sleep in for lazy breakfast Sunday morning! The girls are adjusting well, making new friends, and loving camp life. I can’t wait to see what’s on the horizon come next week!- Liz

More updates tomorrow!
