What a beautiful day at Raquette Lake Girls Camp! The sun was shining, spirits were high, and laughter echoed across the lake from morning until lights out.
The day kicked off with our Frosh and Soph girls heading over to Boys Camp for an archery adventure. Whether it was their first time holding a bow or they were already bullseye pros, the girls had an amazing time learning new skills and cheering each other on.
Back at camp, our cabins were sparkling with pride. Maple, Saranac, and SUPY were awarded Bunk of the Week! Parents, you’d be proud: beds made, cubbies organized, and floors swept to perfection. These girls responsibility did shine through, one clean bunk at a time.
After dinner, a mysterious riddle was read in the Dining Hall:
Grab a pillowcase and fill it up With a broom, croc or Raquette Lake cup If your item is called, to the front you will run And do a bonus trick for fun If you get it right, you will win Raquette Buck And if you forget the item then you are out of luck The activity for the night, I’m sure you can guess Please when you retrieve your items in your bunk, don’t make a mess
The girls immediately knew what was coming: the Dutch Auction! One of our most beloved evening activities, the Dutch Auction blends creativity, teamwork, and lots of laughs. Bunks scrambled to collect the wildest items, from goggles to glitter, and performed hilarious bonus challenges to earn those coveted Raquette Bucks.
Before bed, the Freshmen gathered around the campfire with Eddie—a time-honored tradition at Raquette Lake. As the fire crackled and the sky turned pink, Eddie shared stories about the history of Raquette Lake, reminding the youngest campers that they are now part of something truly special. The girls listened intently and it was the perfect way to kick off their first full week at camp of course with smores.
Between the sunshine during the day, and a night full of fun and surprises, it was another unforgettable day at Raquette Lake Girls Camp. We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
