At Raquette Lake Camps, Independence Day isn’t just a holiday — it’s an unforgettable experience, and this year was no exception! On Saturday, July 5th, our girls and boys came together for a festive evening of food, fun, and fireworks by the lake.
The night kicked off as boats ferried campers from Girls Camp to Boys Camp, with seniors leading the way and the younger groups following in style. As soon as everyone arrived, the Main Field transformed into a vibrant fairground. DJ Jeff set the mood with patriotic tunes under his big stars-and-stripes tent, while campers grabbed dinner from the food booths and spread out on picnic mats to soak in the scene.
Once bellies were full, it was time for the games! The field buzzed with energy as campers rotated through a variety of fair booths and activities — from ring toss, lollipop pulls, and face painting to milk bottle knockdowns and a lively 3-legged race. The creative ones got to leave their mark on the massive fireworks mural, while others struck a pose at the photo booth or visited the mysterious Zoltar for a fortune!
Later in the evening, more games like hula hoops, lanyard making, and spikeball popped up near the food tables, giving everyone a chance to play, craft, and compete until the very end. As the sun set over the lake and the sky lit up with fireworks, campers enjoyed a final sweet treat of ice cream before saying goodnight — younger campers heading back first, followed by upper camp.
The night was seamless thanks to our dedicated staff, who made sure every booth, boat, and detail ran perfectly. The spirit of Raquette Lake — teamwork, fun, and family — shone brighter than the sparklers.
