Yee-Haw Western Night!

Tonight, the spirit of the Wild West galloped into Raquette Lake Boys Camp as we hosted our much-anticipated Western Night, and what a rootin’-tootin’ good time it was! From cowboy hats to mechanical bulls, the energy was high, the music was lively, and the smiles stretched from ear to ear.

The evening kicked off with the girls arriving by boat, ready to join the festivities. They were welcomed with open arms—and open appetites—for a classic Western Dinner, complete with country tunes, festive decorations, and counselors donning aprons to serve up the meal. The western-themed decor, courtesy of our girls camp artists, turned the dining area into a real frontier celebration!

After dinner, it was time to hit the hill for games, dancing, and nonstop fun. Sparky kept the energy going with a playlist full of country favorites.

Campers rotated through a wild assortment of Western-themed games and activities, including: Horse Lasso & Rodeo Roper – Campers tested their roping skills in an authentic rodeo setup. A Mechanical Bull – The challenge? Stay on as long as you can… the bragging rights? Endless! Feed the Pig Cornhole – A crowd favorite, featuring pig-decorated boards and plenty of Raquette Bucks to win.Tin Can Toss, Potato Sack Races, and a Cow Milking Contest added to the competitive spirit. Giant Horseshoes, a bead craft station, and a Photo Booth kept everyone smiling and snapping pics.

Seniors enjoyed their time after with a social at the canteen. As the boats returned to take our girls back across the lake, the stars shone brightly above a night full of laughter, friendship, and Western flair.

From the decorations to the dancing, and the games to the giggles, Western Night 2025 was an unforgettable evening that brought the best of both camps together in true Raquette fashion evening with the rain!
