The 110th summer at Raquette Lake Camps is officially underway, and what an incredible first day it has been!
Our morning began by welcoming many of our campers who arrived by car. There were hugs, smiles, happy reunions, and plenty of excitement as campers settled into their bunks and began reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones. Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch featuring grilled cheese sandwiches, creamy tomato soup, and crispy French fries.
Right after lunch, the energy around camp reached a whole new level as the buses began rolling in! Camp came alive with music, dancing, cheering, and endless excitement as we welcomed the rest of our camp family. One of the most special moments of the day was watching the boys and girls arrive together, sharing one last goodbye before heading off to their separate campuses. Although they will spend the summer on opposite sides of the lake, they are all about to create unforgettable memories and lifelong friendships while remaining connected as one Raquette family.
Throughout the afternoon, campers participated in introduction games, helping everyone learn names, make new friends, and begin building the bonds that make camp so special. Later, everyone gathered for a delicious dinner of spaghetti and meatballs before heading out for safety tours around camp. These tours ensure that every camper feels comfortable, confident, and knows their way around their summer home.
We ended our first day with a favorite camp treat—ice cream sandwiches on a beautiful warm summer evening. As one of our new campers perfectly summed it up, “There is nothing better than a cold ice cream sandwich on a warm summer night!”
Day One is in the books, and if today is any indication, Summer 2026 is going to be one for the record books!
