One of the most beloved traditions at Raquette Lake Girls Camp is our annual Camp Sisters reveal. Filled with excitement, cheers, and lots of hugs, this special tradition officially welcomes another summer of friendship, support, and sisterhood.
The anticipation could be felt all around camp as campers eagerly waited to hear we are family play from the loud speaker. They sprinted to make a circle, make make a circle as they eagerly awaited the names of their Camp Sisters. Older and younger girls were paired together, creating bonds that will last far beyond this summer. For our younger campers, a Camp Sister means having an older role model, mentor, and friend to look up to. For our older campers, it is an opportunity to lead, encourage, and make a younger camper feel truly at home.
As names were announced, squeals of excitement echoed across camp. Camp Sisters quickly found one another, shared big hugs, took photos, and immediately began getting to know each other. The joy and enthusiasm were contagious!
The evening continued with a special dinner where sisters sat together, laughed, shared stories, and started building the connections that make Raquette Lake Girls Camp so unique. Throughout the summer, Camp Sisters will continue to spend time together, cheering each other on at activities, sharing meals, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
At Raquette, Camp Sisters are so much more than a tradition—they are a reminder that every camper belongs, every camper is supported, and every camper is part of our camp family.
