The 101st summer season is off to an amazing start here at Raquette Lake Boys Camp.
Sunday kicked-off our first full day of activities. You couldn’t ask for a more beautiful day to hit the water and the fields. Each activity area was up and running. Guided instruction could be seen at every stop. In addition to all of the fun outdoors, today was our first “Letter Writing Day.” Look for the first letters from your boys in the mail very soon!
Finally, we ended the day on Sunday with our traditional Opening Campfire. Eddie shared a story about the history of the camps then this year’s Senior President gave a speech challenging everyone to try something new this summer. Not to mention, during the campfire, over 30 five-year campers were recognized, as were our eight-year campers and three-year staff members. We closed with a few songs and with “Waking the Echoes” from the summers past.
If today is any indication of what lies ahead, there’s no doubt that the summer of 2016 is going to be a great one.
