The sun was shining for the first day of our 106th summer at Raquette Lake Camps in the beautiful Adirondacks! Yesterday morning there was only one piece missing to the most perfect place on earth, the campers! The buses rolled in right after lunch time and I wouldn’t be surprised if you could hear the cheering all the way from NYC. As you know, we live 10 months for 2, and we have been counting down the days since August 14th, 2021. New friends, old friends, camp friends are the best friends. It seemed as if the returning campers never left and the new campers made themselves right at home. The children were eager to find out what bunk they were in. They ran to their new bunks, put their bags down, and went to HAVE FUN!
Dinner was delicious spaghetti and meatballs, with fresh baked cookies. The children loved dinner but the highlight of their night was dancing on their chairs!
Evening activity was safety tours where they explored all around the camps so they are familiar with the locations of all activities. After all of their hard work they enjoyed ice cream in the dining hall.
