Let’s catch up now that we broke our exciting news about our new bunk names on boys camp! Monday night we had our amazing counselor talent show. There were guitar performances, singing, magic tricks, someone like you, and an amazing rendition of one of the greatest traditions on boys camp THE SPLASH! It was a night to remember with lots of laughs. Yesterday the weather was perfect and the boys got right into things as they ran around camp to all their activities.

Today’s blog highlight will be all about our head of team sports.

Alex came to us after spending 4 collective summers at reputable camps as a Flag Football Director. As the Head of Team Sports at Raquette Lake, Alex will not only oversee the flag football program but will also be focusing on creating a fun and competitive environment in the sports of volleyball, ultimate frisbee and even GaGa!

Alex hopes to create an engaging and entertaining football program that boys from the Lower Freshmen all the way up to the Aides can enjoy for the 2024 Summer. He has coached at the varsity level and is also a former Division I and professional player. Football is his passion and he is eager to share that passion with our campers here at RLBC.

“The reason I continue to work in the summer camp industry is because there is no job on this planet quite like it. I enjoy seeing the kids grow and develop week after week and summer after summer. If you are able to find your footing in summer camp, it will be one of the most rewarding things that you do. I am always appreciative of the opportunities to be welcomed into new camp traditions and hope to create some traditions of my own along the way. The kids will make it worth it every single time.”

We welcome Alex to boys camp and are excited to have him!

Last night was our first hobby night on boys camp. Some of the favorits were tubing, gaga, basketball, and arts and crafts. The juniors and seniors had their first socials on girls camp, and had a blast!
