Birds of a feather… our camp brothers came together! Another wonderful tradition as old as the camp itself, is our camp brother program. Each summer, every boy at the boy’s camp will be matched up with a camp brother. Younger campers, are paired with older campers. This connects our campers and expands their camp family providing them another person to look up to and be there to talk to.
We called the boys to flagpole for dinner with the exciting news that they would now have a new family member! After being introduced the camp brothers posed for a family photo and enjoyed a delicious pasta dinner together followed by a camp brother scavenger hunt all around camp. Although each year every camper will be given a different camp brother their bond carries on for their entire camp experience!
A Note From Our Head Of Ski:
Hi there, My name is Ryan Rogers. I have been working at Raquette Lake Camps for 4 years now, and this year I have the pleasure of being Head of Ski on boys side. I am from New Zealand, and have an awesome staff working with me. We have a high level of skill operating boats safely and efficiently, as well as an ability to perform tricks on the boards and skis behind them.
This summer our goal is to get all campers in the water having a go at atleast one of the disciplines we offer and coach. We have upgraded our equipment to allow the campers to reach a higher level in whichever discipline they choose. We will be introducing buddy wakesurfing with the freshman throughout the summer. In years past the freshman have been using a tube to get accustomed to water passing under themselves. With buddy wakesurfing we would put a freshman camper on a surfboard with one our ski counsellors to be there to support the campers on the board and to be there to assist in getting in/ out of the water. We believe this will greatly benefit the confidence of our younger campers and allow them to progress faster than previous years.
We look forward to meeting you and showing you all the progress throughout the summer.
