Another gorgeous day on boys camp! To go with our theme of the day of all things water, here is an update from Sail:
Hello, Downtown here. I run the sailing program at the boys camp. To put it mildly, this year has been a blast. The winds have been very strong and the conditions challenging for most days. Our campers are taking it in stride and doing some amazing things on the lake. Stronger winds can be a bit daunting for the little ones, but this years group of Freshman are troopers and don’t seem to be phased by the challenge. We have had them out in the boats every day, even learning to steer and how to set the sails. When the big winds come, we have been out on the Hobie cats for a thrilling scoot around the lake, with lots of spray and high speeds. The older kids are used to this, but even our youngest are having a great time. The other day, we even had A House doing capsizes in the big 19 foot S2 monohull. They did great and didn’t want to stop once they got the hang of it. The older kids have been doing well also. Some of the usual campers were out on the water showing off their skippers skills from previous years, as well as helping to teach their fellow campers how it’s done. I can see a lot more skippers awarded in the coming weeks. Great things are in store for sailing this summer. I’ll update with new skippers soon. Downtown, Head sail instructor
For evening activity, the boys wore their festive beach flair and made their way down to the boys camp beach for a delicious dinner! Hawaiian rolls, pulled chicken and beef, israeli salad, cole slaw, and chipwiches for dessert, the menu got rave reviews!! After dinner it was time to party and the boys jumped right into the water! They enjoyed a night under the sunset with water toys, building sand castles, and jumping through our outdoor aquapark. It was a night to remember on boys camp.
