It’s a party in the USA on RLBC for July 4th. While we sit tight and wait for our big celebration on Saturday with girls camp the boys had so much fun around camp. It was a popular day to be out on the water as it was 80 degrees and sunny! After dinner the boys had a blast on the Slip and Slide. They could not stop smiling and laughing as they glided down the hill! The upper sophomores had a campfire with Eddie at pioneering and had Smore much fun!
Updates from Ropes/Outdoor Adventure:
My name Is Thozi from Cape Town South Africa, I’m the head of ropes course for both Girls and Boys Camp. I have been with the camp for more than 20 summers.
The first week of camp ropes theme was:
Circle of belonging- We created a fun, safe, and cooperative atmosphere, setting a positive tone for the summer and encouraging returning campers to cooperate and integrate new campers to existing groups through play and laughter. By using different activities the campers work together and we prepare them for the high elements. We also make sure at the end of our activities to debrief and check in with all the campers to ensure they are having a great time.
Week two Circle of personal mastery- Our objectives as we continue with circle of belonging is to integrate it with circle of personal mastery. Utilizing both, campers learn how to use the ropes equipment properly. Encouraging campers to challenge themselves and help them to overcome their fears of heights.
